Humble Beginnings

Kia ora,

I'm John Hart, owner and founder of The Little Brewer in Wānaka. You can call me ‘Beanz’.

After growing up in Wānaka, I expanded my coffee knowledge in Wellington while working for Café L’affare. Even in those early days, I always dreamed of bringing the flavours of the city to the town I call home. In 2021 The Little Brewer began in a coffee cart, sharing a  space with the Community Workshop, and brought about the local favourite Bacon Butties. I quickly grew thirsty for more and decided it was time to create a space for the community I consider family.


I envisioned a space that paid tribute to the town with its ski and skate culture; with a bit of rawness to highlight the grass-roots vibe of Wānaka. Now, you'll find us in Three Parks brewing up a storm, sharing conversations with our community to create a culture of like-minded people pursuing their adventurous desires, with the aid of delicious coffee!
